No, i thought it is not (yet) possible. (anyone please correct me if i'm wrong), but I thought that with the latest firmware, you can create a new one, and drag the volumes simply from one group to the other, without having to suspend the RC-group. I haven't got a 3par around at the moment to test this though :(.
The goal is to achieve the best results by following the clients wishes. If they want to have a house build upside down standing on its chimney, it's up to you to figure out how do it, while still making it usable.

I thought I posted the process on here, you can not rename, but you can from the command line remove volumes from the RC group with an option to preserve the RC snapshot, then there is another command to admit the volume to a RC Group using that snapshot so the volume does not have to replicate in full again. It is a painful process and I have been asking for rename of RC for over a year now, ask you account team to submit a feature request for this, the more they get the better chance they will add it.

Yup, very painful as is dealing with many things 3par. While there is no perfect solution 3par is decent, but far from Enterprise ready in many aspects of support, account management and planning. And now with the 7xxx being re-seller channel focused will make this worse.
