What about queue size? How is that configured on Vmware?

QD increased to 128 from default 64 earlier - it made difference (50-100% improvement) with small IO sizes, but not with big ones.

Weird. My experience is usually higher QD = higher IOPS and latency. Lower QD = lower IOPS and latency. Queued IOs "collect" latency too.
