is there a way to determine when the snap volume has been updated? once you execute the command there doesn't seem to be a way to determine when the process ends.

When the snap is updated? It gets updated on every single write to the base volume until it is deleted or another snapshot is triggered.

Understood. But I need to know how to determine when the update is complete so I can start the DB backup. The update, DB pause and a few other steps are all being done via scripting.

You should see it in the task list. It usually takes a second.

What type of DB are you using (ie, could RMC be an option)?

When you run "updatevv" you won't get the command prompt back until the process is complete.
We do about 200 volumes in a set and it can take about 20 seconds to complete.

You can also see the time a snapshot was updated by looking at the output from "showvv -d".
