Hi adeel, you can use 7k series drives in 8k series, but not simple way. You need to hack 3PAR - get root password and change files in firmware database to allow for 7k drives to run in 8k drive cages. For example on 7k cage is DCN1, but on 8k it is DCN2. So you need list DCN2 as allowed jbod type in firmware db for particular disk you wanna use. Them you need reload fw db and drives will be working good. I do this for some SSDs and also FC class drives. Health check only reports, that drives are running on 2x 6Gbps instead of 2x 12G, but it is no problem at all, because each drive have two 6G links, so in total 12G, also sufficient for older SAS SSD.
