I'm running MC 4.5 on windows 8.1 x64 without any issues at all

Thats a bit odd, the version i'm trying to install suggests that it wont work on this version of windows ?

I misspoke... I'm running 4.5.1.

Anyway, I got no such suggestion, and I ran 4.4.2 on win8 with no problems either.

I would suggest downloading it again.
