Creating new CPG and get this message: ( Error: no available space for given (invalid?) parameters)

I have setup the CPG on a S400: As Mag. Raid 5 3+1, also tried Raid 1. Defaults. but still come up with the above message...

GUI:

Free Disk space available on this system is 9.6Tb.

Overview: System internal 3% System spare 10% free 87%

Volume Raw Space: Fully Provisioned 100% 20Tb

I am not sure what I am missing.. I am able to create CPG's on e200 we have, but on this s400 am not.

Thanks

Thanks DaveO

How many Nodes and cages do you have? Check your advanced settings for "Cage Safe" vs "Mag Safe".

Hi,

I believe you want to create a new CPG with cage availability ?

If you create a RAID5 3+1 CPG with cage availability, you will need 4 cages in order for the
system to stripe data vertically across the 4 cages to get cage level availability.

Try to create your CPG with magazine availability

4 cages...
That's not correct.
If you got 4 nodes then you need 8 cages to get ha cages on R5 3+1.

The availability is calculated by cluster (pair) of nodes.

Nobody mentioned 4 nodes......

If he has a 2 node s400 then 4 cages is entirely possible.

But he said he wanted nag availability anyway, not cage.

Wonder if it was ever solved.

Hello,
I just ran in the same problem at a customer site. The reason for this message is not that the availability was wrongly selected, but there is simply not enough free space. I tried to create a
SSD cpg and there was only ldfree of 7 GB but the growth increment is 8GB. I added 6 SSDs, and the same command went through. Fun fact: A CPG with the same specs was already there.

Cheers,

Thomas
