Hi, does anyone know how to remove data from physical disk and prepare them to remove the disk from the system.
The goal is to remove 4 drives from the system. Thous drives are in a CPG with data on it and I want to remove the data from it, so I can take them out. It a 3PAR 7200 system.

Are you planning and replacing the disks? servicemag command vacates the disks, but not sure how that translates into a 7200, because it is designed to vacate all 4 disks in a mag and is designed for replacing a disk then restoring the data back. It is not recommended for vacating data permanently.

i don't think removing and dismissing pd's is something that is meant for endusers to do themselves.

what are you planning to do with these drives?

The goal was to move physical disk from one system to another. (7200 to 7400) HP has problem to deliver disk drives in a short time and the 7400 system is filling up faster sooner than expected. We had free space in the 7200. (they are not connected to the same SAN so we couldĀ“t use the Peer Motion...)

In 7200 and 7400 each drive is a magasin so the servicemag and dismiss did do the trick. When the new disk arrive we will put them in.

Thanks for the replies

Could be fully license, we purchased our 7400 with full licenses even though we're only at about 80% of the spindle licensing cap initially, it's much cheaper to buy the licensing during the initial purchase with the large purchase discount.

agreed, i forgot that most 7x00 systems come fully licensed.

Still not wise to move mags and drives around yourself though. Might hurt the support contracts, and you might forget to do certain steps, impacting the 3par in a later stage.
