Post subject:  Vmware vvols with adaptive optimization

Using vmware 7 with vvols and I have adaptive optimization enabled on 3par.

When create a regular virtual volume in the 3par SSMC, I can select AO_CFG_DFLT for the CPG and that gets adpative optimization. There is no way to select that for the vmware vvols. Only FC_R6, SSD_R5, etc.

Is there a way to use 3par AO with vvols?

I'm just thinking out loud. The vVols are created in a CPG (linked to the PE). As long as the data is stored in a CPG, AO should work just fine.

But I've never tried it :)
