Hi 3PAR Experts,
I have a 3PAR that is not in HPE contract. Need to wipe the 3PAR and re-run the OOTB procedure. Looks like since 3.2.2 MU4 console user has been removed. Tried running following from 3paradm user login from serial console and got this -

# setsysmgr -f wipe 3par7440c
Are you sure you want to run setsysmgr wipe?
select q=quit y=yes n=no: y
Error setting system state. System has already been started up.

Do I need any additional commands to run in order to get this command run successfully... or... is there any way to reboot and from either Whack prompt run a wipe command?

Or is there any other way to wipe the system without calling HPE support?

Thanks in advance.

Console user is time based. I’ve yet to encounter not being provided the console password for a wipe even without a support contract.

What do you mean by time based? The password you get from HPE support expires after some time?

Correct. Passwords for system created account are only valid for an hour (if time based passwords (default) are chosen) on later software versions.

I had the same problem today. What I did is the following:

- remove node0 and extract the boot sata ssd
- use a sata-to-usb adapter to connect the boot sata ssd to a Linux machine
- mount /dev/sdX2 /mnt
- vi /mnt/etc/passwd
- Remove the * in the line with the console user, save and quit
- umount /mnt
- Repeat for /dev/sdX3
- Reassamble node0 and connect to the serial console. I was now able to access the console user by pressing return on the password prompt.
