I got 2 8400 2 Node arrays.

I would like to combine it to 1 4 node 8400 array. Does anyone know if I can just wire it up and do an admithw?

Probably not that easy but thought id ask the community since I cant find anything online about it.

1. You need the cable to connect the node pairs.
2. You need to clean the donor nodes so they are similar of a clean spare part so you are able to node rescue it into a "new" system.

HPE can provide this as a service called Custom Service Request. Only thing that might become an issue is sourcing those node-link cables as they were never sold stand-alone and I don't think they are a standard connector.

I think the node cables are the same as a 7000 array. I have a few of those.

Going to wipe the nodes hard disk and give it a shot. Only problem im having is im trying to image the nodes hard disk but imaging is taking forever. Just want a fall back plan if it doesn't work.

I think you are right. partsurfer.hpe.com seems to indicate they are all:

7400 Node Interconnect Cables worked perfectly.

Only thing I had to do was go into whack and unset the system serial and set the new node # (From 0 to 2, etc).

Node rescue went perfectly. Only problem was the node rescue went fine but they didn't come online after rescue. It could see the cages and the disks (they were encrypted though).

Biggest problem was both arrays were encrypted.

Ended up calling HP and getting the console password.

Performed a deinstallation and then re-ran ootb and all was perfect. All the drives were reverted to non-encrypted and everything came up as expected.

Thanks everyone for there help. Hopefully this post helps someone else down the line.
