Hi all,
I installed appliance version 3.8 with no issues. It works fine
Then I upgraded to 3.8.1 with success
But I cannot upgrade to 3.8.2 or 3.8.2.1
I upload the file, start upgrade, it says upgrade in progress and ssmc will reboot during upgrade
It doesn`t reboot. I wait and reboot it manually, still at the same version 3.8.1
I tried gazillion times for both versions with no luck

I wasn't able to upgrade from 3.5 to 3.8.2.1, so I had to redeploy the appliance (v3.6 is the min to upg to 3.8 and 3.6 isn't available for download).

Ever since then, my old 10800 running 3.2.1 will no longer connect. Something to beware of, I guess.

This wont help as much, but I upgraded from 3.8 directly to 3.8.2.19, skipping the version in the middle. No issue to report thankfully. I wondered if I had to sequentially update, but it appears not.

Could see no difference with the latest version, aside from it being hardened against the log4J situation...(not sure if it was vulnerable, Im just guessing!)

Literally did it this morning btw!

I tried everything. From 3.6 to 3.8.2.1 directly. I brought up a brand new appliance and tried to upgrade to 3.8.2 or 3.8.2.1.....nothing works. Something is preventing from the upgrade but I can`t seem to find it for God`s sake...And HPe support is no helpful at all

HPE support is sub-optimal.

I would keep plugging away, and try older combinations to get you to 3.8 release, then try the step I did.

All I can say is I think our 2 SSMC boxes have been upgraded so many times, we would have started out on a really much older code path, and continually upgraded each time.

This was the only time I tried skipping a version, and I was surprised it handled it.

I am assuming you are uploading the .star file OK? and its accepting it, then prompting for an upgrade?

I think I was on a 3.7.1 something, then saw these two new releases and went for it.

I do feel your pain dealing with HPE "Enterprise" appliances. I have a web of Oneview Main appliance, Oneview for vCenter, Storage Integration pack for vCenter, all hooked into a pair of vCenters in Enhanced linked mode, and using vLifeCycleManager to update hosts/clusters/firmware all in one go. I felt like a beta tester for HPE, as I had one situation where one appliance literally would not work as a fresh deployment, but starting with say a 9.51 then upgrading to 9.6, it worked ok! Never solved that little mystery either.

You can find the Upgrade Path in the SSMC Release Notes.
Example: Upgrade to 3.7 can be done from 3.5 and newer.
The Sub Release 3.8.1, 3.8.2 are always Patch only and require a 3.8.x Version.
You can see that these have smaller Sizes.
