Post subject:  SAN zoning in RCFC

I have two 3par system in rcfc and servers connected with 1st system. rcopy is started successfully. 1st system is connected with san switch and 2nd system is also connected with another san switch. both san switch are in isl trunking .1st system san switch is primary now do i need to add zoning in system1 san if I have to check failover from 1stsystem to 2ndsystem .

Popular standard is to have 2 SAN switches connected to each array and host.

With plain remote copy and RCFC, you will have to manually rezone and export to 'fail over'.

Using "Peer Persistence" feature is probably what you want to deploy. Hosts are zoned to BOTH arrays and use ALUA to know which one is primary and which one is standby.

If you only have 2 switches, you should configure them as SAN-A and SAN-B, and attach both arrays to both switches, same for your hosts. Make sure to read up on how Port Persistence works to make sure your cable it up correctly.
