Hello Gurus! Quick question, I have been asked to replace a controller node on a 8200 3par.
As I was checking the status of the 3PAR I noticed that the Node CPU utilization is+ 70% on average on both nodes.
The node replacement seems to be a proactive recommendation from HPE.

I just need to make sure that when I pull out the node to be replaced, the other node will be able to support the workloads.
Will there be any degradation(apart from the disks reporting the loss of the paths). Maybe slowness or is there a chance that the remaining node won't support the workload?

Best regards

If this is a proactive recommendation from HPE, have them do the replacement. To my knowledge there is no level of support on 3PAR that doesn't include onsite tech for the replacement.

If both nodes are running at 70+% CPU on average, it sounds like something is very wrong on your system or it is doing some serious kind of IO on thin or full volumes.

Thanks for your comments, that 3par does a lot of dedup and compression and is generally very busy when it comes to i/o. That's why I was asking the node cpu utilization may cause a mayor disruption while replacing the node.
Anyway I'll look further with the onsite support from hpe.
thanks a lot.
