Post subject:  Edit Remote Copy Group CPGs

Hello everyone. Long time lurker, first time post.

We have two 3PAR systems with Remote Copy groups synching between the two. We are changing some CPGs from R5 to R6. More specifically we have created new R6 CPGs and are Tuning Virtual Volumes from the old R5 CPGs to the new R6 CPGs.

I have emptied one R5 CPG of virtual volumes and went to delete it but hit the error "Error: Common provisioning group ... is part of a Remote Copy group"

Although the source and target virtual volumes have been Tuned to new R6 CPGs, the Remote Copy Group synching them still shows the name(s) of the old CPGs. Am I Ok to Edit the Remote Copy Group, change the User and Copy CPGs to the new CPGs without impacting the virtual volumes?

Many thanks for any assistance.

Run "showvvcpg" in CLI.

If there is no snap space used, changing the copy cpg should be enough. If snap space is used you need to tune it (or clear the allocated space).
