7400 480 10k SAS drives

We generally use a RAID5 CPG and haven't had any problems with performance. For more demanding workloads would I see any improvement using a RAID1 CPG?

Thank you

It would generate less backend (disk) I/O .. so yes you would.
Would you be separating the CPGs to their own spindles ?

I would say it depends.

If you're maxing the backend (disk drives) during workloads, RAID1 will reduce the backend write IOPS with 50%. Read IOPS will not see any difference.

If you have large block size, you quickly run into fabric issues with 480 spindles in the 7400. If you're hitting a bottleneck in your fabric, RAID1 will not make a difference.
