Post subject: | Renaming Virtual Volume that belong to Virtual Volume Group |
Hello , The following rename operation was performed via the "The StoreServ Management Console":- I have renamed a number of Virtual Volumes that belong to a Virtual Volume Group. After the rename operation :-
Is this a 'bug' within the Web Interface or do I have to perform a refresh?, I have closed down the browser and tried logging in again, but the Volumes are still not within the Virtual Volume Group. Thank you in advance for any comments support. Cheers Andrew |

Which versions are you using? I saw some funny things with old information getting "stuck" on the Windows-based SSMC. That used to fix itself by restarting the windows service. I haven't seen similar things on the appliance one, but could still be the same fix (reboot appliance). |

I've hit this occasionally when doing lots of renames too, used to happen with later versions of the old IMC and the current SSMC GUIs. Something in the way they cache stuff seems to trip up, as Mamma says a restart of the GUI would clear the cache and get back in sync (restart IMC client or restart SSMC service). Not had a chance to do similar operations enough in the latest appliance based SSMC versions to say it's gone away though. |

Thank you Mamma & Ailean for your thoughts & comments. I'll Restart the services and report back on the outcome. Cheers |

The actual Service Processor that is running the Application Service has been rebooted and now the information wrt the Virtual Volume Groups is being displayed as expected. Yes this was using a "bigger hammer" than necessary, but it did the job. So obviously, as mentioned, some of the information for the VVG was being cached and not updated. The fact that I could get the 'correct' information from the cmd line did give me a degree of comfort that everything was correct. Thank you for the quick Response Cheers |

Of you rebooted the Service Processor and the data is now showing correctly in SSMC I'm pretty sure nothing you did had an impact expect waiting. SSMC communicates directly with the 3PAR so the SP isn't involved in that communication at all. |
