 Post subject: Remove PD on 3PAR 8200

Hello all,

I try to search a solution about my problem, I put 12 SDD on wrong 3PAR, I want reuse them on the right 3PAR.

I have try to process like the attachement but the dismisspd failed for all SDD.

I have this message:

Error : Pd id 69 is referenced by chunklet 50:49

Can you help me?

The drive isn't empty. The drives must be empty before running dismisspd.

If you installed them, waited 15 minutes and then starteddoing this, you could have a tunesys task running that is moving data to the drives while you try to empty them.

If all drive aren't empty why I have no chunklet in use on these HDD, and all are tag Unavailable ?

They become unavailable when you set ldalloc off.

What does showpd -c say?

What about the remaining drives? Any spares used?

(I think you have more to do on step 5)

When I try to dismiss one HDD 60 to 70, always an error whith reference chuncklet which is on the remaining drive.

The formatting isn't perfect, but looks to me like you have 37 spare chunklets used on each old drive. This is probably data which is referenced on the new drives.

Go to step 5, move all chunklets referenced in your error message, try again, go back to step 5, try again, go back to step 5 until you've cleared all 37 chunklets per drive. There could be an easier way, but I can't think of any right now.
