is there a way to determine when the snap volume has been updated? once you execute the command there doesn't seem to be a way to determine when the process ends. |

When the snap is updated? It gets updated on every single write to the base volume until it is deleted or another snapshot is triggered. |

Understood. But I need to know how to determine when the update is complete so I can start the DB backup. The update, DB pause and a few other steps are all being done via scripting. |

You should see it in the task list. It usually takes a second. What type of DB are you using (ie, could RMC be an option)? |

When you run "updatevv" you won't get the command prompt back until the process is complete. We do about 200 volumes in a set and it can take about 20 seconds to complete. You can also see the time a snapshot was updated by looking at the output from "showvv -d". |
