Here's an odd one. My 3PAR Sim 3.2.2 enclosure VM works OK but the disk nodes won't allow me to logon at the local terminal. I've just deployed them and have never logged in before.

If I enter the wrong username/password, I get the expected behavior. If I enter the correct username/password ("console" and "crH72mkr"), it flashes some text on the screen for a split second (too quickly to read), clears the screen, and dumps me back to a logon prompt.

I shut it down then mounted the VMDK to another linux machine to examine the logs. Unfortunately I'm at work and they're at home -- I'll have to post them here later -- but I recall syslog indicating things like:

pam_unix: no such file or directory on /etc/securetty
    pam_auth_recovery: username not supplied

Any thoughts?

I downloaded the simulator again and redeployed. Problem has been solved.

I think these sim builds have an expiration. My new nodes indicated during their setup that they're good for something like 315 days. My old download was from late 2017...
