Hello,

We purchased a bunch of new drives for our 3PAR 8200.
After migrating all our data off to a MSA2040 we blew away all the data virtual volumes.
Moved the .srdata vv into a new CPG and did a tunevv on it to distribute the chunklets.

Does anyone know the official way to move the admin, log, pdsld.

cli% showld -d

movepdtospare -devtype -ovrd -perm -nowait

Doesn't seem to be able to move some of the LD's that where bound to FC.

I found these steps.

1. Ensure there are no logging chunklets or failed/degraded disks.
2. If the RAID set is still stale, fix the issue that caused the to go stale.
3. Remove the Log ld using the
Code:
removeld -rmsys

4. Use the
Code:
admithw
command to create a new Log Ld.

not so easy.. "Preserved data storage LDs cannot be deleted as long as preserved data is enabled"

-Official HPE reponse.
For the pdsld (Preserved data LD), we need to stop the preserved data before we remove them.

-> showpdata
-> stoppdata
-> removeld -rmsys <pdsld name >

Is the array was under support or warranty? I don't know the steps or commands, but a procedure to reset the array to factory defaults, then reinitialize the moment-of-birth process from the beginning might also do what you need.

Hi,

yes array is under support they did suggest as you mention but do your data virtual volumes?
There is quite alot of host configurations too it would be quite time consuming to reconfigure it all again.

They said it's pretty straight forward to do the other method, so we are going down that route.

Do you think it's okay to use a set size of 16 on the 7.68TB SSD?

cli% showcpg -sdg

1 SSD_TLC_r6 - - 32768 -t r6 -ha mag -ssz 16 -ss 32 -p -devtype SSD -devid AREA7680S5xnNTRI
