Hello everybody, I have one little question. Do you know if the HPE M6710 Drive Enclosure serie is compatible with HPE-3PAR StoreServ 8000 serie? The main objective for us is to keep our HPEM6710 Drive Enclosures (we got 3) when we ll switch from HPE-3PAR StoreServ 7000 to HPE-3PAR StoreServ 8000. Thanks for your support Regards. |

Different SAS version, different connector. If you somehow find cables to do this it will never be supported. |

Not supported, if your 7000 series controller is dead could always try picking up a used one. Otherwise, there's nothing preventing them from connecting to a PCIe HBA for some DAS storage for a linux/windows box. |

If you change SAS controllers it will work with 8000 series. |

Happen to know what the MOP would be for the SAS swap? thanks! |

This is not only about SAS expanders, but also cage info is in eprom on backplane. This is only possible by hackign 3PAR os and editing firmware database. Hack 7000 series was simple, just remove boot drive and connect to some linux box, change root pass and you are in. On 8000 series, boot drive has SED, so it is not so simple.. |

I wouldn't hack an array that was under an active support contract... but if your planning to decommission and old array, take it off support and throw it in a lab, call support and get the root passwords changed to something you are in control of. |
