Post subject:  VASA 2.0 HP 3Par VVOL Disk Size

Hello to everyone! We recently have installed 3par, but not running it in production yet. Also we are running vmware 6.0. When i try to attach 3par VVOL i see a limit of a Disk Size to 16TB 3par software was updated to 3.3.1 (MU2). Were this limit comes from? This is a problem of Vmware vsphere 6.0 ? Might i can somehow update API, or i just need to upgrade to 6.5 and there will be no limits of that kind, or what ?

Not sure about 3.3.1 and vvol, but prior to 3.3.1, the max volume size was 16TB before it was increased to 64TB for non-dedupe, non-compressed thin volumes in 3.3.1

Mmm no, prior to 3.3.1 the volume size of VVOL (Storage Container) was 64TB and disk size was 16tb, and Virtual Volumes had limit to 16tb. Now VVOL is also 64TB but disk size is still 16tb, and Virtual Volumes are increased to 64Tb.
My question is about limit of disk size that show VMWare when i`am connecting VVOL Storage container.

As i found on other site, disk size could be much bigger. But i`am not sure what kind of storage is being used.

What I was trying to say was that max virtual volume size (3PAR virtual volume, not Vmware Virtual volume) was 16TB prior to 3.3.1. I haven’t played around with vmware vvol the last couple of years so my memory about anything Vmware specific details are flaky at best.

The pictures in your next post is probably Pure based on naming.
