Hi All,

Am very new to 3par so go easy on me :-)

We are currently going through a testing phase on our new 3par SAN (8440 all flash) and would like to perform a simulated disk failure of 2 disks (CPG is RAID 6).

Current thinking is that we will physically remove the disks to simulate failure, at which point i am assuming a rebuild to spare chunklets will kick off. Once this is complete we would re-introduce the pulled disks and confirm they are added back into the storage pool successfully.

Are there any potential issues with testing disk failures in this way?

Thanks

You will not be allowed to replace a failed drive with the same drive when you pull the drive. So servicemag will not continue.

Speak to HPE presales SE or support, there are ways to simulate this at the CLI by failing chunklets or media to take the disks offline and then resurrect them once sparing has completed.
