My research indicates that disk filtering is not possible with Adaptive Flash Cache. Is this correct?

Yes, it's true. It seems that 3par firstly trying to use SSD with lower ID for AFC allocation. In my configuration AFC located on separate SSD pool, it's old 100GB disks.

But really it is don't matter becouse AFC working with data blocks from HDDs only.
