Hello,

Please I need to know if their is a way to convert a Fully Provisioned virtual volume to a Thin provisioned one, we still have 3.1.1 MU2 P18.

we know that it's feasible in 3.1.2 using IMC 4.3 but what about 3.1.1?

Thanks and Regrads,
Ziad Melhem

you can accomplish your goal with some down time.

You need to do a Full Physical Copy and have zero detect turned on in the destination VV so the zeroes are stripped out. The destination VV is a TPVV. It can take some time to do the Full Physical Copy if there is a lot of data.

Steps:

1. Ensure Original volume has Copy Space
2. Create appropriate VV (CPVV/TPVV)
3. Perform Physical Copy => Create Physical Copy
• System
• Domain
• Parent volume => Original volume
• Destination Volume => Replacement volume
• Check Save snapshot for later resync => SYNC
4. Request Application Downtime
5. Perform final RESYNC
6. Promote Physical Copy
7. Disconnect (unexport) and reattach (export) appropriate volumes from server
8. Ready to go

As you see there will be some host interruption.
