We have 2 disparate sites with 2 7200s. Most our VVs are being replicated using Periodic Remote Copy.

On the source system the VVs are all in 3-tier AO CPGs. On the target system the VVs are all in FC CPGs.

Is there any benefit in having these VVs pinned to FC or could we put the VVs into our AO configuration (user CPG and copy CPG would be the FC AO CPG).

Currently, our copy site is using a lot more FC disk and a lot less SSD and NL disk than our production site due to this difference in config.

Not sure what you're asking, but I wouldn't use AO for copy space.

I second that. AO should not be used for copy cpg. Copy CPG is being used only snapshots. Any virtual copy you will create and remote copy snaps are stored in copy CPGs
Also I wouldn`t use AO on remote location. For some reason access calculation AO does is not accurate if you ask me, because of constant remote copy writes. In my two installations, I had to stop using AO on remote locations because it completely filled up one CPG

I don't mind it filling up the non-user CPGs in an AO setup. In our AO setup, all VV user CPGs are set to FC. The SSD tier has a warning set so AO won't allow the SSD CPG to grow beyond that value. The NL tier is ONLY used for AO.

I think we have time to run some testing on this. :-)
