I upgraded our VSP to 4.4 MU7 but the "add vCenter Server" button mentioned in the User Guide is missing.
Thanks in advance!

You might have to log a case with HPE. My experience is that they change this when you have a scheduled upgrade with the remote team. They seem to be using a user which they don't share the password.

You log into the SP via putty as your 3parcust account, then menu options 1, 14, 1, 4 to reset the password for cpmaint. Then log into the SP again using the cpmaint account via putty and select option 11. It will step you through switching to RDA mode. You need to be sure your firewall allows connections to the new RDA addresses.

Yes it seems the old firewall rules for the legacy doesn't really totally cut it for the RDA. I can get the test connections to the servers but the SP transfer queue holds the files. So i need to tell the firewall/proxy guys to open some new ports. :(

The botton for the add vcenter worked like a charm. Using the "cpmaint" user from ssh to change to the RDA mode - this is an easy change. and i can see the logs under the report section starting to gather vmperfco like on the SP5.0.3.x. :)

cbuxton, where did you get that list of targets??

We startet with the adresses in the HPE 3PAR Service Processor Software 5.0.x User Guide (QL226-99871, June 2018, pages 47f) , then switched to some wildcard-rules (like *.itcs.hpe.com)

But nevertheless, your targets are different than what the guide says:

You:
16.248.72.63 - storage-support1.itcs.hpe.com
Guide:
https://storage-support.glb.itcs.hpe.com (16.248.72.63)
--> Should be ok with *.itcs.hpe.com.

Some of the 15.xx targets aren't in the guide at all (15.241.152.*, 15.241.52.*, ). Without DNS-names, I can't tell if we nailed those with a wildcard.

But as the SC isn't capable of proxy authentication when switching to rda (it works without any changes when switching back to ssa again), we don't even come that far to worry about required targets that are not allowed... Oh, and while it unsuccessfully struggles with proxy-authentication, it tries to reach some infosight-targets as well (accoding to our proxy guys).

We use the hpepartner-user for switching to rda. Could this possibly be part of the problem? Support told us to use this user, nobody mentioned cpmaint

Hi apol

The cpmaint is as i know only pre SP version 5.x. Think it is gone from that version. You still use the cpmaint before the 5.x to change between SSA and RDA.
But do you know for sure that the RDA doesn't support proxy? I have to use it at a customer, but the file transfer deliver part is my issue. It can do successful testing even with the proxy, so i know it is able to at least look it up on the internet.

Just to clarify, this customer is using the 4.4MU7 version with the Infosight/vCenter integration.

Hi,

when set to rda, the "SP Connectivity Test" fails at the "Proxy Server test". When some target ips are not allowed, it fails at the "Collection Server test"-part. When everything is set up correctly and works, it fails with "Failed: access denied ("java.net.NetPermission" "setDefaultAuthenticator")".

Funny, that.

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone here ever managed to fix the RDA/proxy error, as we have just hit this, added all the IP's and URL's provided in the documentation to our proxy server, 443 is open between the SP and proxy, and to HPE, this didn't work, so raised a case, was provided with a different set of IP's/URL's, added these, this also didn't work, but going back to SSA/storage-support.glb.itcs.hpe.com works perfect.

Here's HPE's advise ""Kindly fix the proxy issue"" :)

No, we're still using ssa. Our local support told us that ssa will be supported longer than initially planned as hpe identified problems with certain proxy setups at various customers.
