Hello!

I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

I'll describe the scenario and give you an idea of where I'm at.

2 x 3PAR 7400

A large number of VV's being replicated from site A to site B (site B = Secondary) using remote copy groups.

This is being done in preparation for a Data center Migration to Site B

Question

Is it possible to create a R/W Virtual Copy / Snapshot from a Read only Virtual Volume and export that to VMware 6?

What commands would I need to run to "update" the R/W Virtual Copy? Retaining it's name etc as it's hopefully exported to VMware ESX Hosts etc

If so what process would need to be applied to Promote the Virtual Copy to a R/W VV on day of the Migration?

Any help greatly appreciated,

Cheers, :D

I believe that's the only way you can do it. The Offsite remote copy will need to remain RO to receive updates from the source site. updatevv will refresh the snapshot you have exported to your remote ESX hosts... but I suspect you will need to do something on the ESX hosts first to unmount those datastores, then updatevv, then rescan and remount them.
