I recently migrated a SAN based system from one location to another. We have a 3PAR at each location with fiber between the sites. I used RC Replication between the 3PARs for the 12 SAN volumes for this one server. Once the physical server was transported from the source site to the target site, we simply did a "Failover" within the DR Group from the SSMC. Everything worked as planned for the most part. Now that we have been running production at the destination site for a few days, I would now like to clean up and deleter the DR Group and the source SAN volumes that were once production. The DR Group currently showing as Stopped. When I delete the DR Group, I can a message that simply states "The following selected remote copy groups cannot be deleted.".
Does the DR Group need to be Started in order for me to delete it? I have done this before for a test system, but I believe the DR group was Started.
Additionally, being a EVA CA guy for so many years, I am trying to grasp a good understanding when to use the various different RC actions such as Switch Failover, Revert Failover, Recover, Restore, etc.
At this point, I simply want to clean up my RC Copy groups. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. It will be interesting to see how useful this forum is as well.
