Considering many people just moved to converged 10gb where storage and network share a 10gb link I agree 16gb HBA is a hell of a lot of bandwidth and a few of them open throttle would begin to stress the back end at some point.

Agreed with one exception, as you scale the RCIP infrastructure it just can't cut it. I wish HP had SFP+ slots for the RCIP connectivity instead of hamstringing the functionality on the 7000's and forcing FC on shops who are running everything over ethernet.

We backup our VMs on the 3PAR with veeam and I see that the source is most time the bottleneck. I would love to see 16GB SFPs in our 7200 to get more speed for our backup. But I am not sure if the SFPs are the bottleneck or speed of the disk cages? We backup with up to 400MB/sec. When I use "recently used path" I see full 400MB/sec over one port. When I use round robin (our default) I see ~100MB/sec per port. I looks like the bottleneck is inside the 3PAR, not the SFPs...?
