I wasn't sure what to put in the title to make it clear what I am wanting to do.

I have two 7200c's running 3.2.2 MU3.

We have just upgraded to vSphere 6.5 and are migrating our datastores to VMFS6. Unfortunately there is no in line upgrade, so I am creating new VVOLs and SVmotion the VMs within VMware. Once done I'm removing the old VVOL.

This has worked fine for everything so far, but we are also using Remote Copy for around 10TB of SRM protected VMs and only have 100Mbit link between 3Pars - which is shared with everything else, AD, Exchange, web etc.

Is there a way I can move the data from one VVOL to another in the same Remote Copy group without having to do a resync?

I have a theory but I don't know if it would work.

Remember that 3PAR is block storage and has no knowledge or understanding of what you put there other than 0s and 1s. When you reformat a VV in Vmware to VMFS6 you change the entire content of the VV and 3PAR doesn't recognize anything from the "old" volume.
