Post subject: | AFC drives allocation |
Hi, can I specify where to allocate space for AFC? Under normal circumstances AFC is allocated to all SSDs. But we have little bit specific situation. Our 3PAR has some rotational drives (48) and some SSDs (16). But we have SSDs of 2 types. 480G MLC and 1,92TB cMLC. Because there is a big difference in space capacity we configured disk filter, so we separated 480G drives and 1,92TB drives. So CPGs are allocated based on disk filter. But What about AFC? I would like to set 768GB AFC for some hot volumes on rotational drives but would like to use ONLY 480G drives. Not 1,92TB where we are on 60% of capacity. Process looks barely simple: Createflashcache 768G and then setflashcache on expected VVset. But how can I take a look to which SSDs are this AFC allocated? And how to manage? Createflashcache command doesn´t have these parameter (like -devtype -rpm etc) |

You can use the different RPM designations 150 for MLC and 100 for cMLC to create a filter for AFC. cli% createflashcache -rpm 150 768g |

some types of disks when AFC came out are not supported We use AFC on 480 GB SSD and use 8 and they absolutely fly on improving our FC disks and NL disks Cheers Steve |
