My customer say that his 3par might have perf issue...
I have done a perf analysis and seen any spike on serv time on any Vlun..
Svt and IO/S of PD and front-end ports are NOT out of range...
Anybody have a good track for Vlun service time?
Any Vlun svt spike could cause a perf issue?

Thanks

If you are in the good situation that there actually is a complaint I would start with that.

Look at statvlun and statvv for those hosts or volumes which they are complaining about.

if statvlun is high and statvv is low, the problem is most likely in the SAN fabric. If statvlun and statvv is high then it is most likely a backend(anything from disks to host ports to nodes...) performance issue on the 3PAR. If statvlun and statvv is low then the problem is most likely the hosts themselves.

Based on that info you know where to look closer.

You could also create some sralertcrit to be notified when things reach certian values (ie vlun service time above 5msec for 15 consequtive measurements .

At this moment we do have the same problem. VMware linux RHEL7 servers complaining about performace. performance is that bad that servers stop. Issues are seen for 5 to 10 minutes, different moments, not every day. We did open een HPE SR.

Lets hope Infosight for 3PAR will help in this in the future, at least pointing to the components (san, host, storage) having bad servicetimes. I was told Infosight will be available starting february.

I'm also looking out for some more good sralertcrit setting for 8450 and 20850.
