Hi MammaGutt,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, "nsswhow" displays Host WWN.

Does upgrading Fabric OS will give me this problem?

Thanks.

No, this is not normal, but I have seen stuff like this before. 9 out of 10 times it is a host(server) problem with bad drivers or missing hotfixes for OS.

Hi MammaGutt,

Thanks. I do agree with you maybe missing OS Hotfixes. But, as per HPE based on their upgrading process questionnaire wherein they are asking for: Host OS version Level, HBA vendor and model, multipath software and versions and fabric details which i replied with pertinent data, it seems that everything is okay.

That is for the 3PAR OS upgrade right?

I've seen that document there, but I've never seen it for SAN switch upgrades.

As I don't see you mention any OS types or HBA types ...
There is a bunch of Microsoft KBs listed for different windows types in SPOCK which the Windows implemenation guide mentions. Most of these are linked to handling of lost paths and recovery of those.

In the 3PAR OS Upgrade preparation guide you get when booking an upgrade it has a section on "Path Loss Experienced from Windows Servers with Qlogic based HBA following an HPE StoreFabric B-Series switch FOS Upgrade". I've been hit by this and it is annoying to troubleshoot. If you have Qlogic based HBAs and running Windows 2008 or later, only the drivers from April 2017 or later is safe to use.

Did you check Qlogic driver on windows? Seems similar to an issue we recently stumbeld upon:

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public ... df086#tab5

There is an advisory somewhere as well.

Hi MammaGutt,

Yes that is for HP 3PAR Inserv OS upgrade requirements.

This is the HBA details:
Qlogic/04:00.0 -ISP2532 8gb FC to PCIE HBA(rev 02)
Kernel Driver: qla2xxx
Version: 8.07.00.08.06.6-k1

Host OS is RHEL 6.5

============================================

Hi Bajorgensen,

This is the HBA details:
Qlogic/04:00.0 -ISP2532 8gb FC to PCIE HBA(rev 02)
Kernel Driver: qla2xxx
Version: 8.07.00.08.06.6-k1

Host OS is RHEL 6.5

Actually, like what I mentioned in my previous post. I did answers all of their inquiries in the worksheet file with regards to those pre-requisites and they told me that it's good to go but we need to upgrade first the Fabric OS because the version is 7.3.1 and we just upgraded it to 8.1.1 following their recommended hops which is 7.3.1>7.4.0>8.0.1>8.1.1a

Thanks.

Hi Mammagutt, Bajorgensen and Noss,

Thanks for spending your time helping resolve this issue.

This issue has been resolved by just swapping cables from port4 and port 5 of Switch1 to Switch2 port 4 and port5 and vice-versa

Again thank you so much for your time.

JunG
