Post subject:  CPG distributed some volume space outside of CPG filter

I have a 7200 that has a CPG filtered to use just 450GB drives, using the following parameter

-t r5 -ha cage -ssz 4 -ss 64 -ch first -p -devtype FC -rpm 10 -tc_lt 819

I noticed the other day via the showvvpd output on the volumes using that CPG, very small space is distributed across some of the 900GB drives. Not sure why? The CPG filter appears to be vaild if I use it against the showpd command.

If I did a tunesys, do you think it would redistribute space not to the use 900GBs?

Have the 450GB ones ever been full? Maybe failures?

The system will take the rules as just preferred if it can't allocate space, rather then fail a grow other free space will be used.

I don't have mixed types/sizes anymore but I've also seen it change the set size when free space was short, pretty sure when doing a tunesys after adding disks those allocations have gone back to what was set.

Tunesys should fix it. You could also use the cpg option to only tune that cpg.

Remember that cpg filters doesn't impact spare chunklets.
