Post subject:  Explain upgrade package shortcuts (MU,EMU,GA,EGA)

Can someone briefly explain differences between this upgrade shortcuts
I suppose MU stands for major update and EMU is enhanced version of it (with some additional patches)
Also I noticed that first upgrade from one group (for example 3.2.1 or 3.2.2) is GA or GA/EGA

When I have the choice to choose between for example MU2 or EMU2, should I always choose EMU2? (should I always choose EMU version if I can )

If i have MU2 and I on top of it install patches which are added in EMU2, does my version automaticaly becomes EMU2?

Thanks

If my memory serves me right.
GA = General Availability
MU = Maintainence update
Exx = Extended .....

Exx are updated versions of GA/MU which are released to address an upgrade related issue. (They sometimes includes a bundle of already released patches to that version to reduce the number of patches required to enabled afterwards.) That fix is also available as a patch for the users already running that version. In certain versions I've seen difference between an Exx release and an updated MU release. What best comes to mind is 3.2.2 MU4 vs eMU4. With eMU4 there is one component being update to P59 (or was it P57) which doesn't get updated if you simply add that patch on MU4. My guess is that there is something upgrade-only related which requires a node reboot to be activated which is activated with eMU4 but not (and not required) for MU4.

Hope this makes you a little bit smarter and hopefully HPE will become a bit smarter and make versioning more intuitive in the future.
