I need to update the 3PAR OS version 3.2.2 to 3.3.1 of the 3 PAR Storage 8200 because there was a need to configure File Persona using the 10Gb Combo NIC. we not having VSP for Network security reasons and our policies do not allow an extension that allows remote access. What is the best way to proceed with Update? |

If you don't have a service processor, you can't update your system. Any reason why you can't deploy a service processor in the same vlan/network as your 3PAR? You don't need remote access and all that, but the service processor is the only way of relaying alerts from your 3PAR (ie internal mail) and updating your system. If you want any of that, you need a service processor and there is no way around that. |

I concur with what Mamma says. You need a service process for other reasons like alerting internally, as well as staging and deploying patches and upgrades. You can block the SP at the firewall, as well as turn off the inbound and outbound communication on the service processor. Then schedule supervised upgrades with Webex/HP Rooms. |

Its a Bad Idea To have no SP. But before I deliver 3PARs to Customer I Update them in the Lab. For this I Install a temporary VSP. You can also Shut down the VSP after the Update. Do you also remove the Autosupport Modul from Netapp, and all iLOS? |
