Has any ever purchased used shelves/drives or even full 3par units before? If so, have you been able to purchase support on them? |

I have not done this for a 3par but have done with other HP gear. As a cloud Service provider , when we have on boarded customers and they have no need for hardware we have often purchased of exhcngaed for lower monthly payments certain gear..IE HP EVA's (used in lab or bas backup targets . HP re badged brocade switches etc and the odd other piece of equipment. We have been able to change the ownership on all of these and where needed purchase hardware replacement warranties ...this has been great and in some areas very cost effective as technically nothing I am sure you could do this with a 3 par very easily....good luck if you try.... |

If you are looking to cut down on your upfront costs I would recommend looking into the HPE Renew Program. This is equipment that has been out on demo and HPE has certified it, it comes with the same exact warranty and coverage options, the only difference is the SN is appended with an R (at least that is what they did on the EVA arrays). You should be able to purchase HPE Renew equipment through your preferred vendor who will work with your local HPE sales rep. http://hpe-renew.hpe.com/us/en/storage.html |
