Hello,
I want to turn on AO on my 3par 7200. Two tiers. Thin provisioned. Tier 0 is SSD and Tier 1 is FC SAS. Nothing is currently in the SSD CPG. We are using Adaptive Flash Cache. Now if I turn on AO and is starts moving things to SSD and the CPG free space fills up, am I in trouble or is it smart enough to stop moving data to SSD or demote data back down to FC? I know best practices are to not set growth warnings or limits for AO.
Thanks.

AO is where you need a growth warning as the system will then move data away from that pool of disk

Make sure you are running the shift of data every 24 hours .

Use a balanced option. as flash cache will shift data straight away and the AO will shift data later on.

Balanced is best option.

If AO and AFC is the only thing using SSDs I don't see a single reason why you want to limit the SSD usage. Space needed for AFC is allocated and AO will try and take the rest moving space back and forth as needed.

SSD space not used is space/money wasted.

Thanks. I am not looking at limiting the space but I don't want to run out and have things crash. I have 40TB of SAS space for tier 1 and only 800GB of SSD for tier 0. Will AO use all of the space moving the host spots to SSD until 0% and cause issues?

As long as all growth is on FC, there is no issues with allowing AO to fill SSDs to 100%. If you have a single volume having the SSD as user or copy cpg you will get into trouble with a full SSD tier.
