Hey guys, We have a number of 7200 arrays and I have a need to collect all the serial numbers of the hard drives that are installed. What would be the easiest way of doing this? Thank you in advance |

Generally, use the CLI (or issue the command via each Service Processor), and use: Code: showpd -i To gather just the serial numbers without any additional data, use Code: showpd -showcols Serial

Ok, so an update here, our vendor has come back and said this: "These are the Seagate/Sandisk serials unfortunately but gives us something to work off. HPE is in the process of mapping these serials to the HPE serials. " So we have a result which is great, but my question is, can I get the HPE serials from the array itself? Or do I have to use something like StoreFront remote for example? |

When/if a disk fails, your support contract still states the old serial... if you try to get it fixed you might get a quote for that as moving support from one serial to another just doesn't seem to ever go as planned. So mixing serials of spare part into this is a very bad idea, which makes you collecting them a bad idea. If they say they can't help you, then look for a new partner. If they don't keep those records I would want to know what else they're not keeping. Remember that someone needed these for your original support agreement. |
