Hey guys,

We have a number of 7200 arrays and I have a need to collect all the serial numbers of the hard drives that are installed. What would be the easiest way of doing this?

Thank you in advance

Generally, use the CLI (or issue the command via each Service Processor), and use:
Code:
showpd -i

To gather just the serial numbers without any additional data, use
Code:
showpd -showcols Serial

Ok, so an update here, our vendor has come back and said this:

"These are the Seagate/Sandisk serials unfortunately but gives us something to work off. HPE is in the process of mapping these serials to the HPE serials. "

So we have a result which is great, but my question is, can I get the HPE serials from the array itself? Or do I have to use something like StoreFront remote for example?

The only way I've seen this go even remotly close to good is having HPE/HPE partner trace your old orders. When/if a disk fails, your support contract still states the old serial... if you try to get it fixed you might get a quote for that as moving support from one serial to another just doesn't seem to ever go as planned. So mixing serials of spare part into this is a very bad idea, which makes you collecting them a bad idea. If they say they can't help you, then look for a new partner. If they don't keep those records I would want to know what else they're not keeping. Remember that someone needed these for your original support agreement.
