I have an 8200 that currently has 80 FC drives, 4 shelves. It was installed by HP and the volumes are using a R6 cpg with a set size of 6+2. We recently purchased 8 SSD's (920GB) and I am trying to figure out what is the best CPG config to use for them. Based on some reading and looking at the different options, it seems like about my only decent option is to use a R5, 3+1 CPG with cage availability ? If this is not my best option, what would you suggest ?

I let you read the issue i had with a CPG 7+1 with 8 SSD's :

As said on the topic, 3+1 seem to be the way to go.

That sounds right to me. Raid 5 3+1.

You would need 16 total if you wanted to do R6 6+2. 8 for node0 and 8 for node1
