SSMC 3.3 released. Someone has already installed it ? Does it work well ?

I will be updating our SSMC console soon, we are on 3.1 and get frequent disconnects and timeouts from server. Not really a big deal just annoying. Our 7400 series is slated for 3.2.2 MU6 now until 3.3.1 is released again. i did have a conversation with HPE engineering support last week regarding this code performance and our expectations, 3.3.1 *will* be released for the 7xxx series again once the bug has been fixed but it will be the last code available for that platform.

The are still recommending we hold off implementing any additional DECO volumes until MU2 which is slated for march/april release of this year. We are currently getting 1.7x data reduction without thin provisioning added in.

Weird...
7000s cannot use compression and all issues with 3.3.1 are mostly related to DECO volumes.

Do not understand this choice.

All documented issues, maybe.

We went to 3.3.1 on our 7400 at the beginning of December (we were promised 64TB virtual volumes back in 2015 when we bought the thing apparently) and even though we don't use dedupe or compression, we've still had a few instances where the Windows cluster attached to the storage just... stops. It's as if the storage disappears, but from the 3PAR console, everything looks fine.

Turns out, the node has a "credit page leak" which causes some particular area of space on the node to drop to zero and it seems to silently fail and rather than failing gracefully and handing over Master Node status to another, nothing happens. Manually rebooting the nodes clears the space for a while (and is all HP have suggested - they've put on a script that monitors the nodes, but it doesn't email when it triggers an alert, so it's not overly useful at the moment), but we're waiting for Patch 21 to actually fix this.

It looks like we have a similiar issue. The performance is dropping silently to something like that (statvlun output):

Here is the advisory on the nasty TDVV issue on 7K and 10K we encountered:

I'm on 3.3.1 EMU1 and I'd like to apply the new patches P21 and P24. Problem is it's not clear to me if they apply to 3.3.1 EMU1 or just 3.3.1 MU1. I even got an automated alert about saying this:

"Upon a scan of the diagnostic call home data, HPE has identified that your StoreServ Storage system is running HPE 3PAR OS 3.3.1-MU1/EMU1. We strongly recommend that the OS be upgraded to the HPE 3PAR OS version 3.3.1-MU1+ P21 & P24 or 3.3.1-EMU1 at your earliest convenience as it includes the critical fixes & enhancements"

Which confuses me even more. I shoudl be on EMU1 so I'm ok? Can I apply P21 and P24 to get the fixes in those patches too or are they not meant for EMU1?

Thanks

EMU1 = MU1 with P09, P11, P18 included
P21 can be installed to both

p21 seems important Patch.
Also running on 3.3.1 EMU1. My collegues in other country mentioned serious compression bug being fixed by P21 (told by HPE) Some more details available ?
After compressing all VV's on our 8450's we do now encounter io-errors ... Not yet sure if related. Lets plan for P21 and P24

On hold again...
I just tried to schedule the upgrade of one of our 8200 All-flash systems to 3.3.1 EMU1 and was told it is on hold. Anybody know why? It's ridiculous that 3.3.1 was introduced over a year ago and is still not being deployed.

yesterday and today, we had an scheduled InServ upgrade from 3.2.2MU to 3.3.1EMU1 on our two 8440s.
our HPE techie called me last night in a panic, alerting about 3.3.1EMU1 upgrades being on hold too.

since the 3PAR-SPS resources were already booked, we went to InServ 3.2.2.MU6 +P96 instead...
(not quite the feature gain we expected)

the reason I was given not to go to 3.3.1EMU1 was :
During the upgrade process itself , in some cases the array had to be completely stopped; leading to unscheduled downtime (and an angry customer).

it's supposed to be resolved with 3.3.1 MU2, which should be released in june2018.

Thanks for the info. I suppose that really means July/August. Just FYI for anybody trying to upgrade, your CPGs need to be re-created and all data moved in order to get DECOv3 functionality where you gain the data efficiency. The problem we ran into was that we had existing TDVVs and the dedupe database in the CPG does not shrink even if there is free space within the database. That means if you are more than 50% full you will need to move data off until you are below that threshold - this is the process we had to follow and it's almost reminiscent of the data destructive update of the EMC XtremeIO back in the day. In the end we went from an array that was 90% full down to 50% with 3.3.1 - very happy with that, but the process was ugly.
