 Post subject: Default cpg changes after AO?

Hello,

Is it normal for the default cpg for a vv to change after AO is run?

Our situation: We have a two tier AO configured in Performance mode with Tier 0 SSD and Tier 1 FC. We have two corresponding cpg's set up, AO_FC_r5_Performance and AO_SSD_r5_Performance. We have three, fully provisioned volumes that were set up initially with the default cpg being AO_FC_r5_Performance. However, after AO ran the default cpg for each vv changed to AO_SSD_r5_Performance.


Model: 3PAR_7200
HP 3PAR OS version 3.2.1.426 (MU5)


After a recent OS update, we did a tunevv usr_cpg <CPG> <VV_name> and set the vv's to FC to see if the update would keep the default cpg from changning.

After the tunevv was completed:

According to HPE, the system is working as designed. Should the default cpg be changing? Is keeping the default cpg as SSD okay? We have a 3PAR 8400 with a newer OS set up in a similar configuration and have not had he default cpgs change after AO runs.

I've seen this as well.

The explaination I got was that showvv looks at the first 16k block when displaying where the volume resides. So if that block is a part of a 128MB region which is moved by AO, it could display incorrectly. However new writes will go to FC as configured.
