we have a 3par 7400 4 node and one of the nodes failed!
i have one new node which its firmware version is 3.2.1 but the failed node and other nodes working are on 3.1.2 mu2 firmware version. what should i do?
Is that possible to replace the failed node with upgraded node without issues?
im really concerned about my data , i have to replace the failed node as soon as possible.
by the way, i dont have any inform os sources and dont know from where i can find and download it!
by searching and reading documents on the internet, i think the suitable os which i need is 3.1.3 on the new node! is it necessary ? ( i got it from pre-upgrading inform os doc)
Regards

Hi ,
I think nothing happen for you data if you replace failed node with new node according to the maintenance guide and firmware on new node will be sync with master node in cluster.
In bad situation your new node will not join to the cluster.Your data will be safe and will not suffer from replacing.

Firstly would recommend to call HP support

Else in this case you might have to take a maintenance window and perform this activity. The reason is that since the two nodes are with different Inform OS version the system might panic and go down during joining the cluster else lets assume that the New node did join the cluster we will have to perform the Inform OS upgrade immediately on the Old Node (which has old code) as we cant have the system running with two different versions.

First, you should contact HP support.

Installing a replacement node with a different OS version than what exists on the surviving nodes can cause the surviving nodes to panic and crash the array.

The failed node can be replaced online, without any downtime if done properly.
The recommended procedure is to wipe the IDE drive on the replacement node if it has an OS already on it. Once the drive has been wiped, you should install the replacement node with a blank IDE drive and the automatic node rescue process should begin.
