Can anyone please let me know whether installing the additional disk rack requires a service outage to the array ?

On a v400 it shouldn't

That said, on a v400 this job should be done by hp authorized technicians only, and they should tell you based on your specific configuration whether or not downtime is required

At most they might need to down a controller node to add another card if you didn't have any ports free but this should be transparent to hosts if the array isn't under heavy load at the time (assuming it's a 4 node system).
