In system summary its showing


Allocated 10000GB
Free 5000GB

here free means free space available at storage level.

Will it be raw capacity or usable capcity.

That would be raw, as usable capacity requires taking the cpg into account for raid

Hi,

Free space you are seeing in 3PAR IMC console is raw space and it is not actual usable one. In order to know exact usable free space for a CPG on a 3PAR please use below commands.

First run below command to get the CPG list along with its properties

HP3Par1 cli% showcpg -sdg
5 SQL_FC_SS6 - - 8192 -t r5 -ha mag -ssz 2 -p -devtype FC

Then run below command with CPG property and you will get usable free space info

HP3Par1 cli% showspace -t r5 -ha mag -ssz 2 -p -devtype FC

RawFree UsableFree

Hi All,

I have the below output for showspace from cli. whatever the usable space is shown here it will be at stoarage level. I have one query here, I have cpg which is craeted by 3D+1P FC disk, now this usable space is shown here by considering my existing Raid group in CPG or How it will be. Bcecuase here in tradaitional array 3d+1p mean i will get the 3 disk space and 1 will be parity. eg. 3*100+100=300GB i will get only.

2) Do I need to consider the SSD while doing the capacity planning. SSD will be use for performance improvement.
