As per my earlier statement - this is confusing.

You would think an SAN firmware update wouldn't be capable of repairing a fault in a power supply, unless the issue was actually to do with interaction with that power supply in some way.

From memory the patch is to remedy drive spin up timings after power fail, see the release notes, not specifically related to a fault in the power supply hardware.

I'm four phone calls and half a day in, and I was just asked to spell "3par" phonetically.
